Division of Training

The Hales Corners Fire Department Training Bureau is responsible for the initial training and continual education for our firefighters. The Bureau’s mission is to reinforce the concepts of both competence and compassion in all programs we provide or support. We do this through many different forms of learning to include traditional lectures, video, use of technology, web-based formats and hands-on training (H.O.T).

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – CPR
  • Rapid Intervention Team Training (RIT)
  • Bail out drills
  • Search and rescue of lost or injured firefighters
  • Scenario based night drill
  • The Training Bureau is also responsible for department new hire evaluation and promotional testing for the rank of Driver Operator-Pumper, Driver Operator -Aerial, Lieutenant, and Captain. Newly hired firefighters must complete an extensive 8 week program prior to working shifts.  Those newly hired are evaluated by the Training Captain for proficiency in EMS skills.
